Make It Count

First post of the new year! Are you as excited as I am? Eh probably not. But that's alright! You're still back here and that's what matters. First off I just wanna say thanks to the readers for checking out my blog and keeping that view count box ascending. It really does mean a lot that you took the time to read what I have to say and for that I thank you.

Seeing as it is the first day of the new year, this post is going to be dedicated to how you can make 2012 a fantastic year. I'm going to list a few things that I think will greatly benefit someone in a year's time. Most of these ideas are going to be things that I hope to accomplish in the next year so if you choose to accept any of these challenges, just know that I will be right there with you. Alright let's get it going.

1. Because this is my list, I'm going to start with what is most important to me. 2012 is going to be all about my relationship with Christ. This involves several different factors within itself but the main result I want to see at this time next year is growth. I want to grow stronger in my walk with Christ. I want to be able to lead many and more people to the same hope that I have, that hope being a Savior. If you don't have a relationship with Christ or really don't even know how to begin, ask me. I'm here for you. If you've ever felt like there was more to this life than everything the world holds important, guess what...you're right. That is you seeking something to fill that void of no hope, no future, and no eternity. That eternity is already figured out with my life, when will you have it figured out? I encourage you to at least seek wisdom and gain some knowledge on the whole idea of what it means to have a personal relationship with God.

2. Make a new friend. Looking back on 2011, I don't really feel like I have made a whole lot of new friends. There have definitely been some people that I'm very glad to have gotten to meet and know but as always I'd love to continue to let that social group grow. With new classes, there's new faces and plenty of opportunities to meet new people. You never really know. The person sitting next to you in class might turn out to be one of your best friends 10 years from now. Be willing to make new relationships and friendships with a variety of individuals.

3. Grow as a person. I'm sure that the majority of people that read this are experiencing several changes in their lives and many of those changes are what will define you as a person in the oncoming years. Figure out the person you are, not the person you pretend to be. Lose the mask and show people who you really are this year. You might find that life is a whole lot easier.

4. If it applies, make academics a priority. Your education is one of the most important things you can gain as a teenager or young adult. As a college student, I have found that school shouldn't be about the grades, the credits or taking the easy teachers. Learn as much as you can while in school because when you start paying for it you'll realize how important the knowledge you received really is.

5. Resolve any conflicts that might have existed in 2011. Maybe there's a good friend you had at the beginning of the year. But over the course of the year something happened to make that friendship go sour. From personal experience I can tell you how much a load of garbage holding grudges and having hard feelings towards someone really is. It really serves no purpose and it seriously just stupid. You never know what is going on in the others life and maybe they just need you to be the friend you were before.

Those are the main goals I have for the year of 2012 but I'm sure many others will begin to pop up as the year goes on. If you don't have any resolutions for the new year, I encourage to figure some out. Test yourself. Make yourself stronger by committing to something for a whole year. I have a few resolutions myself, but check back January 1st, 2013 to see how I did. Oh yeah did you see that? There is going to be a January 1st. How could the Mayans possibly predict the end of the world if they couldn't even predict the own day their people would leave the face of the Earth? jusssayyin.

Alright well I hope you are able to take something away from this and that you all have an excellent year. Make the most of it and to inspire you a little I have a couple quotes.

"We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year's Day." ~Edith Lovejoy Pierce

"Be always at war with your vices, at peace with your neighbors, and let each new year find you a better man." ~Benjamin Franklin

This year is in Your hands Lord
