"For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God."

Day Eight: Healing the Broken

Today is Tuesday and God is continuing to do some awesome stuff here in Cambodia. The team is slowly getting used to the heat and humidity of Battambang making our stay a little more comfortable. The days have started to merge together as we get closer to departure day and it's been crazy to think that we've already been here for a little over a week. I think I can speak for the rest of the team in saying that we have had an amazing time so far.

Today we continued to split up in groups to serve different parts of the community. The majority of the team went to serve at an orphanage called Jievet's House where we put on a Vacation Bible School for some of the children that live in the slums surrounding the orphanage and the YWAM base.

The children at this VBS have continued to break my heart each day that I serve. Those children find such joy and happiness in just seeing our team arrive by Tuk Tuk. It doesn't matter what is going on in their lives, or what's going on at home, as soon as they seen those white people open up the gate to Jievet's house, smiles shine on their faces.

One of the things that many of the team have taken away from serving at the VBS is a new found love for children. I've heard on numerous occasions people talking about how they've never thought about having kids or really even liking children. I've heard from several people that they are thinking about adopting from Cambodia at some point in the future.

Adoption was also something that I have been considering in light of recent events in my own life and this trip has really affirmed that desire to want to adopt in the future.

James 1:27 says, "Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world." That is a pretty clear statement from James. Love the people that are less fortunate than you. Love those that might not have anyone to love them. They are the ones that need the love of Christ the most.

If you have ever thought of adoption or are considering adoption, I ask that you pray about it and really seek what God has planned for your life. Through adoption you can provide a chance for a child. I don't mean to get all commercial-ly on here, but our team has met two children that were orphaned and seriously days from death, and a lady named Laura from Pennsylvania saved them. Laura now runs Jeevit's house where over 30 children are helped with meals, school uniforms, and most of all given the love they need.

Please pray for the children that are impacted by Jeevit's house and Laura as she looks for new people to help her at the orphanage. Please also pray for Caleb Kim as he has been sick for the past couple days with a cold/throat illness. God is able.

Day Nine: What Motivates You?
